Web platforms and portals aggregate information from a variety of sources and place it on a portal page. This page guides people through the content, by linking relevant information with each other and fanning it out in a structured manner, such that the desired bits can be found quickly.

For registered users, such portals render content based on personal preferences and automatically recommend relevant content to the readers.
