For example, IT systems for recording, storing and managing patients' data, anamnesis, diseases, X-ray pictures and data from other imaging devices (like CT and MRT) are commonplace today. The accounting systems with health insurances are also running on IT systems today.
In addition to the advantages of digital infrastructure, it holds major challenges in terms of data protection, data backup and secure connection to third-party systems. Furthermore, hardware, as well as the operating systems, databases, firewalls and virus scanners have to be kept up to date.
